Recently, I sat down with actor William Petersen in the lobby of the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater. Better known as Gil Grissom of CSI, Petersen stars in Scottish scribe David Harrower’s play Blackbird, about a man and a woman who reconnect 15 years after their sexual encounter—when she was 12. You can read about his thoughts on taking on the controversial character in our full interview here, also out in this week’s issue. But one snippet that didn’t make it into the published Q&A was the Chicago native’s ambivalent feelings on being a …

THE HOMECOMING
.
William Petersen is one of TV’s biggest fish. He’s leaving “CSI” for the city—and the theater scene—that spawned him
.

The 14th hole at the Highland Park golf course is a 443-yard par four, slightly uphill from the tee before twisting right and heading downhill toward a green that is protected by a winding creek. It is a cruel hole, and one afternoon in the late summer of 2000 four men were playing it: the reporter, who would be me; Keith Moore, a lawyer married to actress Natalie West; Will Zahrn, a …

William Petersen im Interview | kurier.at
allwöchentlich bei C.S.I.

Man of the Month: William Petersen

Today’s Chicago Woman

The former CSI star, a Steppenwolf Ensemble Member since 2008 who has appeared in the theater’s productions since 1980, takes the stage this month in Samuel Beckett’s Endgame, playing blind wheelchair-bound Hamm.
The guys at Steppenwolf, they’re all friends of mine for 30 years. We grew up together. In Endgame, I’m on stage with Martha (Lavey) and Fran (Guinan). We’ve talked about different things to do and we’ve never, for any number of reasons, had a chance to actually do the same thing at the same time. So …

Channelnewsasia.com – 3. April 2009
CANNES, France – It is very easy to miss the star and executive producer of popular TV forensics drama “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, William Petersen.
For one thing, his hair is a whiter shade of pale, he’s lost his familiar goatee and, unlike the serious head of the forensics department he plays in CSI, he’s smiling.
During the photo call by the pier, for example, while all the photographers are shouting, “Pliss, meester Petersen, look zis way” or “Can I have your eyes, meester Petersen” (no …

By Bill Keveney, USA TODAY
William Petersen picked the cafe for its quality.
Complex man: William Petersen, in CSI’s autopsy room, says he’s healthier since he “stopped fighting for everything.”
“This is the worst of the coffee places on the block. The others are crammed. Nobody likes (this place), so it’s great,” he says.
Not so great if you’re a coffee lover. Quite appealing if you’re the lead star of CSI (tonight, 9 ET/PT) and are used to attention at airports, Las Vegas casinos and even the neighborhood drugstore, where moments earlier he signed …

The actor, who played Gil Grissom in CSI, tells Neil Midgley why he loves his new life on stage.

 By Neil Midgley
Published: 5:46PM GMT 07 Jan 2010

As he walks into the cafe of London’s Natural History Museum, William Petersen doesn’t turn a single head. With his corduroy jacket and his friendly “How are ya?”, he hardly projects the air of one of the world’s biggest TV stars. Yet for nine seasons, Petersen played the lead role in the world’s most successful TV drama franchise. CSI, in which he was Gil Grissom, …
