PokerStars.net, the world's largest poker site, teamed up with the Hollywood office of The HSUS to host "Casino Royale: Playing for Change", an elegant evening of casino games (including blackjack, roulette, craps and poker), martini and wine bar, gourmet vegan food catered by Madeleine Bistro, silent auction, and celebrity poker tournament.
The exclusive tournament took place on Saturday, May 9 at an elegant Hollywood Hills, CA private residence.
Proceeds from this star-studded evening will benefit the implementation in Los Angeles of The HSUS's End Dogfighting program. "End Dogfighting" tackles the illegal blood sport of dogfighting among "high risk" urban youths by educating them to consider their pit bulls as beloved pets rather than lethal weapons. This program has already transformed neighborhoods in Chicago, saving innocent dogs, and drawing youths away from illegal activities. Because of it's success, "End Dogfighting" is currently being expanded to other cities, including Atlanta and Charlotte.
