This is the true story of a woman named Ruth Gruber who travels to Europe to help escort 1000 Jewish War victims to the United States. She comes to love and feel sorry for them all, and fights for their rights to live in America.

Like SCHINDLER'S LIST, HAVEN tells the true story of one person's heroic efforts to rescue innocent people from the threat of persecution and death during World War II. Ruth Graber (Natasha Richardson), an American citizen, views the oppression of the Jews in Germany during the war with grave concern, and manages to figure out a way to bring a thousand of them to the United States. Traveling to Germany in the midst of hostilities, Graber escorts the refugees to America, only to find the government less than sympathetic towards them. HAVEN was originally shown as a television miniseries in 2001, and received 3 Emmy nominations, including one for supporting actress Anne Bancroft.
